The Nicholas Arsenault Outdoor Education Fund
Every kid deserves to explore the outdoors-so we have dedicated a grant to help them access it!
The Nick Project is on year 3 of offering outdoor education grants of up to $2500 to public schools in the anglophone and francophone school districts in New Brunswick. In 2023, we sponsored an entire K to 8 school to go to Fundy National Park. In 2024, 4 schools were selected to receive funding. The projects last year included a partnership with Nature NB to participate in citizen science, a winter outdoors adventure that included skating, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing, a trip to Poley Mountain to learn how to ski, and a school that brought students on two trips: to a beach and a forest to learn from an Indigenous elder.
2025 Outdoor Education Grant Recipients – Moncton Region
This year, we are proud to sponsor 4 schools through our grant!
École Soleil Levant – Richibucto
Thanks to this funding, every student at École Soleil Levant will get the chance to enjoy the magic of winter outdoors. From geocaching and hiking in Kouchibouguac Park to skating and survival challenges, the project helps students recharge, explore, and experience the joy of winter activities that many might not otherwise have access to.
Gretna Green School – Miramichi
With support from this grant, over 100 students in Grades 3–5 will head to Kouchibouguac National Park for a full day of discovery. Guided by their teachers and a Parks Canada interpreter, they’ll hike, learn about local wildlife, and take part in fun team challenges—turning the park into their outdoor classroom for the day.
École François Bourgeois – Shediac
This funding helps 69 Grade 8 students experience Fundy National Park in a whole new way. For many, it’s their first visit—an unforgettable day exploring tides, forests, and wildlife in winter. Back at school, they’ll bring what they’ve learned to life through creative projects that blend science, storytelling, and teamwork.
Harrison Trimble High School – Moncton
This support is helping Harrison Trimble students step outside and make the most of winter right in the heart of Moncton. The funding provides skis, boots, poles, and snowshoes so that Grade 11 and 12 students can hit the trails at Centennial Park—soaking up the sunshine, staying active, and finding joy in the winter season.
